A number of competitions take place each
year. Currently these are:
Total weight of potatoes from 3 plants
Total weight of 3 potatoes grown in a bag
Heaviest Pumpkin
Tallest Sunflower
Best hanging basket
Best Dressed Shed
In addition we judge:
The Best Plot, Best Half Plot,
Best Mini Plot
Best Front
Best Newcomer
We also hold an Annual Show (The Show) with
65 (2010) different
categories.
Points are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in these competitions
and the gardener with the highest total points is awarded the Ken
Bowskill Victor Ludorum Trophy.
We also enter the City of Birmingham competitions for Best Plot and
compete for the Thorpe Memorial Trophy which is awarded to the Best Site in
Birmingham. We won this latter competition in 1992, 1998 and 2009
and were runners-up in 2010.
