  LEMON DRIZZLE CAKE

  Preparation  10-15 mins            Cooking 50-65 mins                 makes 10-12 slices

175g (6oz) butter (softened)

175g (6oz) caster sugar

2 eggs

175g (6oz) self raising flour (sieved)

4 tablespoons fresh milk

Grated zest & juice of one unwaxed lemon

1 tablespoon of icing sugar

1  Cream together butter and sugar.

2  Gradually beat in the eggs & milk 

3  Fold the flour into the mixture with the lemon zest.

4  Spoon the mixture into a greased & lined 900g (2lb) loaf tin.

5  Bake at 180°C/ fan oven 160°C, Gas mark 4  for 50-65 mins, until the cake is golden brown & firm to the touch  

6 Mix the lemon juice & icing sugar together & pour over the cake as soon as it is removed from the oven.  Allow the glaze to set before removing the cake from the tin.

7  Cool and turn onto a wire cooling rack.

G E N E R A L   R U L E S   F O R   E X H I B I T O R S

 

1        Entry to all classes is open to all Plot Holders, Club Members, their immediate families and employees of the club

 

2        All vegetable classes MUST be grown by the exhibitor either on the plot or, at home and must have been grown by the exhibitor for at least 28 days prior to the Show.

 

3        No competitor shall exhibit more than one entry per class.

 

4        All exhibits “shown as grown” must be cleaned.

 

5        The exhibitor, unless stated otherwise in the schedule, must use the containers provided by the Association.

 

6        All containers used in jam, fruit jelly, or pickles classes must be plain (ie. without commercial markings).  Containers must be closed with cellophane or other suitable material.

 

7        Any exhibits not conforming to the wordings of the Schedule will be disqualified.

 

8        The entrance fee for each class will be as stated in the Schedule.  There is no entrance fee for children classes for which the age limit is 14 years.

 

9       Exhibitors cards are to be collected from the Show Secretary BEFORE NOON on the day of the show and must be placed name side downwards in front of the exhibit.

 

10      Staging times for exhibits are as specified in the Schedule.

 

11      The prize monies will be as stated in the Schedule.

 

12      No exhibits are to be removed until after the viewing time stated in the Schedule.

 

13     Trophies will be officially presented at the Plot Holder's AGM and only to those winners who attend the AGM (unless there are mitigating circumstances).

 

14     Trophies MUST be returned in the same condition as presented, no later than 7 days after presentation.

 

15      Any anomalies or disputes arising that are not provided for within these Rules or stated in the Schedule, shall be referred to and decided by the Potholders’ Committee.

 

NOTE: The Association will in no way be responsible for injury, accident, damage or loss of the property of any person.
