Hello Plotholders
Back to the rain !!
1. Don't forget the Pest Control
meeting, to be held in the club on February 21st.
This will be run by Bob
Tyler. Please come along.
2. Please remember bonfires are are not
allowed until March when they can be used to destroy "diseased
crops"
3. Honey for sale. Down to the
last jar.
4. Boundary repair. They
started early, and the fence at the top of the site and the boards near
the main gate have been now been
replaced by palisade fencing.
The new welded mesh fence at the bottom of
the site (roadway by plots 1-8) has been installed.
Next Tuesday they will start on the
hedges at the northern boundary. Thanks go to those people who
have responded to
Haydn's letter and cleared the hedgelines and removed
barbed wire etc but there is still some work needed.
Don't forget, if they can't get
access to your hedge, it will not be trimmed and gaps will not be filled
in.
5. Seeds. If you haven't
yet got your seeds sorted out you could have a look at http://www.vegetableseeds.net
(I've added a link at the top of the page)- "a great value supplier of vegetable seeds to UK
allotmenteers!"
In addition to being the cheapest
seeds around (according to their survey), they also offer
allotment societies a 10% discount.
I've applied for the discount
code and will let you have it when I get it.
6. Seed potatoes are in.
Foremost (1E), Kestrel (2E),
Wilja (2E), Desiree (Main) and Picasso (Main). All at 70p/kilo.
The competition potato this year
will be Desiree.
7. Planner. Haydn has
drawn up the planner for 2012. Have
a look and make a note of key events in that nice new
diary. Some of the dates
are still provisional but I'll update it when we get the information.
8. Emergency contacts. An
enquiry was made regarding emergency contact details. I sent these
out via a separate email.
They are also shown on the notice
boards.
9. Shed price list. I've
done a new price list. At the moment there are no price increases
from the previous one (July 2011)
and we remain very competitive.
That's all for now.
Mike
If you have anything to
say/report/complain about etc. please see a committee member, send a
